HITHER GREEN

A peaceful oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of busy London, Hither Green is less than a mile south of Lewisham and lies virtually undiscovered. It’s a pretty place with a village feel to it and is surprisingly well connected with fast and frequent train services into the city.

Our houses are less than 10 minutes walk from Hither Green station.  It’s just one stop to London Bridge station, two to Waterloo and three to Charing Cross and Cannon Street, so an ideal place to live; just a short commute home after a hard day at work, leaving you time to enjoy your evenings, chat with your housemates and cook an evening meal.  If you’re home late you can always pick up a takeaway – the Bengal Brasserie does a fab curry and comes highly recommended.

For shopping, there’s Sainsbury's, Tesco and a small supermarket by the station – a little further afield is a large Sainsburys on Burnt Ash Road.   Lewisham, a major shopping precinct for all your shopping/high street needs and is just down the road.  There is also the massive shopping centre in Bromley which is a short bus ride away.

In terms of eating out, the bar and restaurant in the newly refurbished Station Hotel serves really good gastro pub food and a huge variety of ales and cider, a favourite local with our housemates in Hither Green.  Do try a cafe called 'You don't bring me flowers'; unique and quirky, with the best homemade cakes in London.  For greater variety of nightlife, Blackheath isn’t far away with plenty of fine restaurants.  In summer, the grassy expanses of Blackheath are delightful.

For recreation purposes and unknown to most, Mountsfield Park is just over half a mile away.  It benefits from football pitches and tennis courts, open vistas and panoramic views – just what you need if you like running/jogging.  Any opportunity to keep in shape and stay fit!!
